Sherry is a Napanee native who has studied under some of North America's finest instructors, including Zoltan Szabo, Brian Atyeo, and Christopher Schink. The last two years have found her working more expressively than ever, in a full-time capacity. Her acrylic abstracts and mixed media paintings are rendered with bold and colourful enthusiasm.
Painting subjects are as diversified as her love of life. Canvases are often influenced by travels and historical events. A recent visit to a remote Peruvian village to teach art had a great impact on her application of colour and texture.
In June of 2005, there was a ceremony at Fort Montbarey (Brest, France) to unveil Sherry's "Channel Patrol" , now permanently displayed in this military museum. The event commemorates one of Canada's largest WWII naval disasters. Attending dignitaries included the Naval Attache from Paris, and the Commander of H.M.C.S. Montreal and her officers.
Sherry's work can be found at Studio 22 (Kingston), Picturesque Gallery (Napanee) and Gallery One-Twenty-One, where she is a co-operative member. She is currently a member of Quinte Arts Council (Belleville), Kingston Arts Council, Napanee Artisan Guild, and Eastern Central Ontario Art Assocation.
