Tony Lassing, born and raised in Amsterdam, settled in Canada in 1954. Using his talents as engineer and architect he started several businesses still operating today. Throughout his life he has drawn and painted and rarely left his home without a sketchbook in his pocket.
For many years he designed sets for the Belleville Theatre Guild and occasionally produced steel sculptures and nostalgic toys. Now fully retired from business, he has tackled oil painting with gusto. His studio is a 1891 farm house in the Murray hills.
Tony shows his work in Gallery 121, Belleville, of which he is a founding member. He is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists with headquarters in Picton, where he specializes in working ships and memories of his days as a submariner in the Dutch navy.
