Ann was born and raised in British Columbia.  She grew up with an appreciation of fine needlework derived from her Danish family and developed needlework and sewing skills from a very early age.  She earned a B.A. in Anthropology (University of Washington) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Adult Education and Adult Development and Aging (University of Chicago).  She taught at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education for 9 years and trained as a marriage and family therapist during that time.  In l979 she moved to the Quinte area and was a marriage and family therapist in Belleville from 1980 to l995.  During those years Ann was deeply involved with many creative people, organized creativity workshops and explored a range of creative outlets.  In 1994 she saw a quilted wall-hanging in a store and was inspired to learn to quilt.  She took her first quilting course in that year and has never looked back.

In 1995, Ann  and her life partner, Dave, went to British Columbia where they spent three years as winter caretakers of a floating fishing lodge on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  It was there that Ann discovered her next ÒcareerÓ as a fibre artist.  Since returning to her home in Thomasburg, Ann has developed her skills and artistic vision through active participation in the local and international visual and fibre arts communities.   Her works are included in many private collections.
